Visit Scotland | A sonic portrait of Scotland

Visit Scotland were looking for a song to soundtrack their multi-channelled video content. Rather than find an existing one, we thought we’d make our own using real sampled and sourced sounds of Scotland - a true sonic portrait of modern Scotland. We enlisted the help of the very talented musician Zoe Graham, to capture these field recordings and translate them into a contemporary bop, and in turn, an ownable sound for Visit Scotland.

Field recorded modern sounds of Scotland included -

  • A can of Tennent’s cracking open

  • A diver jumping into Gourock Pool

  • Ambience from the UCI Cycling World Championships

  • Gaelic chitter chatter

  • The sound of a fish dropping into Anstruther Chip Shop’s fryer

  • The platform announcer at Glasgow Central Station

  • And many more!

Zoe created a reel that illustrated her creative process,
which you can watch here.

Different versions of the track were created for long/short form content
and to cover different moods and feelings, but the full track can be listened to in the film below.
